How to prepare for your Family, Maternity or Engagement Photography Session
All of my sessions take place outdoors at a location of your choice, Its important that we have good lighting for your session, this is why during the spring and summer months I recommend we arrange your session early morning or later in the evenings, to allow for the best possible light.
Choose a location which is special to you, if you are unsure where you would like your session to take place please ask as I have a couple of locations I use often and make great backdrops for photographs.
What to wear
I recommend that you wear something plain with no text or bold patterns and aim to avoid really bright colours. You don’t want everyone to be dressed the same for the session but I would recommend you choose outfits that complement each other, this could mean matching a colour.
Are you comfortable? If you are not comfortable in what you are wearing it will show in your photographs, try to pick an outfit that is “you”. It is important to dress for your location, for example formal wear might look a bit out of place in the woods.
Maxi dresses look great for maternity photographs, there are also a lot of great maternity gowns you can buy especially for photo sessions online. Please remember to wear comoftrable foot wear, you can bring other shoes to change in to for the photographs.
Things to consider
If you have little people with you for your photo session, please bring a spare outfit as accidents do happen. I also recommend that you bring with you some snacks.
Please remember to iron any outfits before the session if necessary. For the ladies, please make sure that the outfit you have chosen does not show off your bra straps and if wearing a patterned bra that this does not show through your outfit.
Please remove any watches wrist bands or hair ties from your wrists before the session.
Sometimes you maybe required do to a little bit of walking during the session, you can bring comfortable shoes for this and then swap your shoes over.
